Books I'm reading

Although I would like to ideally read one book per week, that doesn't happen very often, unless I get connected with an unusually light book. Right now I have three books that I am reading and I suddenly realized they are all feminist writings: The Female Advantage: Women's Ways of Leadership by Sally Helgesen, Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes and Wise Women: Over Two Thousand Years of Spiritual Writing by Women by Susan Neunzig Cahill. I am slowly going through them, reading from one or another depending on the mood. In a neutral, intellectual everyday mood, I will read about women's style of management and leadership, in a particularly reflective mood, I will go for the ancestral truths about women's inner lives as explored by old tales and decoded by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. If I need my spirits lifted, I choose the spiritual writings of women. But apparently, I am in an all-around feminist mood.

Next on my list are two books authored by Romanian writers: My Life on Craigslist by Alexandra Ares and Coming from an Off-Key Time: A Novel (Writings from an Unbound Europe) by Bogdan Suceava.

I love the way you "suddenly realised" they were feminist! It's funny how our selves can surprise us like that. Sometimes a few books are better than a mirror.

They all look interesting but I'd take the top two off your hands first - the second one would be my proper first choice...then I'd do the knitting!

I'm reading nothing but poetry lately - got a stack of anthologies by the bed and one in the car!

Oh, I envy you. I need some poetry back in my life. Maybe I'll go look for poetesses next.

i respect all kind of engagement, including feminist,
but if i'm here its because i love to mention that Clarissa Pinkola her insightful stories and tales looking into our wounded childhood to healing is simply marvellous.

i hope to read the other one you mentioned about 'wise women'.
